Bloomberg reports Google’s Android based tablets are gaining the market share for the third quarter. Still tablet giants Apple iPad holds the top position, but the Samsung made Galaxy tabs are the main reason behind Android share increase.
Android tablets get 27 percent of the share in third quarter of 2011, which is 2.3 more than what they received during the same period last year. While Apple iPad share decreases to 67 percent from 96.
Total tablet sales amounted to 16.7 million units in the third quarter, more than tripling from 4.4 million a year earlier, according to the Boston-based researcher.
As Android sees the hike this time, researchers also says in 2012 Android powered tablets can see more gain in the market share especially because of the launch of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Another report from the Good Technology claims that iOS activations dropped down to 70.8 percent in Q3 from 78.7 in Q2. However, again Android shines with 29.2 percent of activations recently.
