Apple iOS 5: A Quick Look on the Features

Finally Apple announced their much awaited iOS 5 features today in their WWDC held at San Francisco.  Here is what iOS 5 offers to the users.

Notification Center

There were lots of rumors spreading regarding the new notification bar from on iOS devices. That comes true now as the new iOS 5 features a notification bar. Now you can easily find out the new email, texts, friend requests, and more just in one place. These notifications won’t disturb your current process on the device and it can be seen even in the locked state.

iMessage

This one is one of the best among the features. With this you are allowed to send text messages, photos, videos, locations and contacts over Wi-Fi or 3G using iPhone, iPad or or iPod touch to any of the same devices. This features is in-built with the default message app and it is available for free too.

Newsstand

Read all of you news, magazine subscriptions at one place. Newsstand acts as a one point access location to all you subscriptions on the device. With this whatever you have subscribed will store here and you can easily access them. This acts as a separate folder and gets updated for each subscription updates.

Reminders

The new reminders works location based and don’t miss anything in the to-do list. This feature works even on the iCloud so that all you have added in the list is updated to other devices via cloud.

Twitter

So it is more easier for users to share their status with the integrated Twitter app from iOS 5. You can tweet directly from Safari, Photos, Camera, YouTube, or Maps. You can write @ mentions and add locations as well.

Camera

With iOS 5 it is pretty easier to capture the happenings. The new iOS 5 allows users to access the camera from the lock screen itself. Use grid lines, pinch-to-zoom gestures, and single-tap focus and exposure locks and press the volume-up button to snap your photo.

Photos

iOS 5 offers a better photo editing features within the in-built photo app. You can easily turn your snaps into frame-worthy photos in just a few taps. Easy crop, rotate, enhance, and remove red-eye without leaving the Photos app.
Safari

iOS 5 brings wider reading features on the Safari browser. With Safari Reader you can read any articles dumped with ads without any interruptions. Reading List lets you save interesting articles to peruse later.

PC Free

With iOS 5 no need for your PC to activate and sync your devices.
